2014년 제71회 골든글로브 시상식 노미네이션 명단이 발표되었다. 정치 스릴러 '하우스 오브 카드'와 프리즌 코미디 '오렌지 이즈 더 뉴 블랙'의 넷플릭스가 신흥 강자로 떠올랐고, HBO가 '왕좌의 게임'이 단 하나의 노미네이션도 받지 못하는 참혹한 결과와 함께 극명한 하락세를 보였다.
쇼타임은 여전히 시리즈 피날레 효과를 등에 엎은 '브레이킹 배드'가 거의 모든 부문에 후보자를 내며 어워드 평정을 준비하고 있고, 그 와중에 '마스터스 오브 섹스'가 드라마 부문 작품상 후보에 오른 것을 필두로, '레이 도노반'이 드라마 부문 남녀 주연상에 노미네이션되며 더욱 매섭게 HBO의 자리를 위협하고 있다.
